 4th (honours) year >>

AIML426

Evolutionary Computation & Machine Learning.
This course was about using genetic algorithms (neural networks, particle swarm, etc) and other evolutionary algorithms to solve problems.
A+

AIML430

AI Applications & Implications.
AIML430 was about the ethical implications of AI, and how it can be used in the real world.
A

SWEN435

Database System Engineering.
This course taught the basics of database systems, and how to design and implement them using PostgreSQL.
A+

ENGR401

Engineering Professional Practice.
This course that taught us about the professional side of engineering, such as ethics, and how to present ourselves.
A

SWEN422

Human-Computer Interaction.
SWEN422 taught us about user exerience, and imporantly, user testing and research. We also created a COVID data visualisation tool.
A

SWEN432

Advanced Database Design & Implementation.
This looked into data warehousing, data mining, and database types including NoSQL and Graph databases using Cipher.
A

ENGR489

Engineering Honours Project.
My full-year project was to improve and build upon the existing functionality of a prototype system for live visual dataflow programming. This system communicates the steps in programming in the form of linked ‘cards', where each ‘card' is a tangible on-screen object that achieves a single purpose. Transforming data through the linked cards creates a customisable workflow where any combination of cards can accomplish a desired result.

COMP307

Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence.
COMP307 is a course that teaches us about the fundamentals of AI, such as search algorithms, machine learning, and neural networks which we then created from scratch.
A+

COMP309

ML Tools and Techniques.
COMP309 mainly investigated using pre-existing tools such as neural nets in Python and training them for classification purposes.
A+

DSDN142

Creative Coding I
A fun design oriented course where I got to use JS to create visual art and animations. Final Assignment.
A+

ENGR302

Engineering Project Management II.
A more focused project/group management course. Our project was asked if it can be integrated into the university's system. View our submission here!
A

ENGR301

Engineering Project Management I.
This course teaches project management, such as risk management, project planning, and project execution. We worked on a group project.
A

SWEN326

Safety-Critical Systems.
In this course, we designed systems resistant to failure and learned about risk.
A

SWEN303

User Experience Engineering.
This course tried to teach us about the user experience and how to design it.
A-

SWEN301

Scalable Software Development.
In this course we looked into testing and quality assurance in programs.

 2nd year >>

COMP261

Algorithms and Data Structures.
This subject focused on coding different algorithms such as compression and shortest path types in Java.
It was also where I first started fully using Git and understanding how it works.
A+

NWEN241

Systems Programming.
In NWEN we learnt about the C and C++ languages, and the differences between them, as well as creating local servers for us to be able to connect to and modify files.
A+

SWEN221

Software Development.
We learnt how to properly debug and correctly test our programs using unit tests (JUnit). It also taught us more advanced programming techniques such as inheritance, polymorphism and generics.
A+

STAT292

Applied Statistics.
In Statistics, we learnt about using ANOVAs and other tools to compare data and form conclusions. The R language was used to perform these.
A

SWEN225

Software Design.
This was one of the first industry experience-type courses with a group project based on recreating a video game.
A

NWEN243

Clouds and Networking.
Here we learnt about AWS, threads, load balancing and other network-related applications.
A

CYBR271

Secure Programming.
In CYBR, we looked at vulnerabilities that devices can have, and ways to diagram systems to look for them.
A

ENGR201

Engineering in Context.
This course was all about research with written and verbal presentations.

 1st year >>

COMP103

Intro to Data Struct & Algthms.
This was a more advanced COMP102 but we also studied efficiency and how to properly structure our programs. Other things we learnt were the Big O notation for different algorithms and all the types of collections.
A+

ENGR110

Engineering Design.
ENGR110 made ENGR101 last semester look easy. This focused on concepts such as artificial intelligence and finite state machines. These were extremely fun to make and watch work successfully.
A+

ENGR123

Eng Math with Logic and Stats.
This was a continuation of ENGR121 where we went deeper into theories, logic and probabilities.
A+

CGRA151

Intro to Computer Graphics.
Focused on coding and designing visually appealing programs. This culminated in developing a game, where I created Wings, a flappy bird-style side-scroller. You can view this on my GitHub.
A+

COMP102

Intro to Comp Prog Design.
COMP102 is an introductory course in coding where we learnt the basics of Java.
A+

ENGR101

Engineering Technology.
This was an introduction to C and how to problem-solve. We learnt basic engineering concepts with software, hardware and network systems, and by the end, had to code and build a robot that could follow a track through a maze.
A+

ENGR121

Eng Math Foundations.
We learnt about mathematical techniques used by engineers. It was focused mainly on calculus, linear algebra and functions.
A+

CYBR171
